Trying to learn about clams

I have been into soft corals clowns and anemeones for a while now but have never owned a clam. I was reading an artical the other day that said clams can help improve your water quality kind of like live rock. Is this true? It also said that a tank setup for an anemone is also good for clam. What is the minum tank size and lighting recomend for a clam and are most reef safe inverts and fish also clam safe? Thanks I am very interested. I am going to be seting up a 125 gallon and will probably wait till then. I currently have a 3 ,10 , and 35 gallon all reefs.

First of all, unquestionably the best source of information on clams is the book Giant Clams by Daniel Knop.
As far as size goes, you could put Tridacna crocea in the 35G and any clam you choose in the 125G. This is provided you have the right conditions which include correct light, current, water parameters etc.

Beg, borrow or steal a copy of Knop's book and read it cover to cover.
