TS 24 - at last - for my 240

Hi guys,

Well after much planning and deliberating, I have finally ordered my TS24 kit and it will be here next week :)

My tank is 8x2x2 with a single overflow in the back right corner. This is the "last" purchase I am going to be making for my tank now for a long, long time, so I am going to re-arrange my rockwork etc. to maximise the "effect" of the equipment I have. I have 2 no. 6060's and will have the two new 6101's.

So, I was thinking of putting the two 6060's at the back - one at each end, one high up (4" below water surface) and the over low (4" above the bottom). The put the two new 6101's at the front, one each end, about 8" down (i.e. 1/3 down) from the top - set to full power and random flow - each pointing toward the centre of the tank (i.e. pointing slightly backwards).

The rockwork would then be arranged to form two islands, each about 24-30" long, with 18-24" gap im between, and in 9-12" from each end - either that or else one long island, about 5-6 long, with lots of underpasses etc. i.e. very open structure.

I am giving up on sand - its a nuisance for the most part, so I am going to let 20-30lbs in there, and let the pumps blow it aound the bottom until it finds a spot where it can "settle".

How does all this sound?

QUESTION: What is the minimum distance that a coral should be from a stream pump?

Thanks guys,

Matt

Just be careful with sand getting in the pumps and don't place the pumps anywhere inaccessible. Most thicker branched and table type acros can be as close as 6" from the Streams but they should be slowly acclimated to being that close either by moving them closer or ramping up the speed over time.
