T's Rescaped Custom Cube

Looking good Taylor. That ceramico shape looks great in there hope it stops leaching. Aren't trochus snails supposed to eat diatoms? (may have pulled that one out of nowhere lol) Steve in DC usually has them fairly cheap if you ever go up there may help you thru the battle..

I see you got that red dragon up top =).. In my tank it will go white with high par (300+)so maybe something to watch for with that particular one. Look forward to seeing those corals grow up in another environment to compare and admire.

Great job on the tank also looks like you bought it vs built it..

My cerameco was a silicate nightmare. It's now in a bucket in my shed. Hope you have better luck! I had it in my system for ~5 months.

Is the fixture a LED PM?

It's the standard 6 bulb. 4 blue+, coral +, and a purple+.

Thanks Daniel. Yeah Im hoping it does stop but it looks like the poster below is had the same issue for 5 months. My turbo grazers have it almost contained right now so Im wondering if this is going to be an issue for just the rock or if the silicates are going to affect my water chemistry.

My lights are around 10 inches from the surface of the water so I dont know if my par is quite that high. It's held its color and even colored a little more since adding it. If it starts going pale I toss it onto the sand bed on a piece of rubble.

Did you take it out because it was constantly covered in algae or was it affecting other things in the tank? Everything is doing good in my tank otherwise but Im wondering if I should start testing for silicates.

My ceramic rock is almost completely algae free now thanks to the turbo snails. I got sidetracked this weekend and picked up a new toy.

Is this an upgrade thread, now? :D

Hey Tman! Sorry to hear that you were having issues, but I'm really digging the tank. Super clean looking! Can't wait to see your progress!

Thanks Kaser.

I'll make a new thread for the upgrade. It's going to take a while to get it started but I'll have a thread for sure.

grabbed a new stick today at Reef Raft Norcal. Not sure what it is but it's got a nice purple base with bright green/yellow tips. Any idea what it is?
