Hey guys - I have a question for the pros. I am setting up a new 40 Breeder tank (some of us get bigger(TJ!), some smaller I guess!). I want to go powerhead-less as I want this to be an anemone only tank. I am trying to finalize the plumbing. Do you have any suggestions?

I have the 700 gph overflow kit from glass-holes. We were thinking to return through the back glass. THEN to get more flow and avoid the powerheads - a closed loop where we drill the intake (need good covering/anenome proofing ideas here too) and then return over the top (or drilled near top) into a big section of pvc with outlets pointing down into the tank. I saw this idea on wetwebmedia - any thoughts? LIke this:

Desperately in need of your advice!

(also thinking maxijet utility pump 3000 for the sump return, 1" scwd on return line, and no clue what sort of pump for the closed loop type device - just something big.) Gonna change my red house to link to the 40 breeder if anyone cares to peek over.

I spent some time talking with Paul from OceansMotions yesterday about the closed loop layout tied in with the 4-way.

After the conversation, and a few emails, here is the new layout. The Red represents the intakes, and the Blue represents the outputs.

Got laid off yesterday... so fish tanks drop to the bottom of the priority list.

Sorry to hear that! I've been lurking on your thread for a while now watching your progress and getting ideas for my new build.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of work did you do?

On a positive note... The frag tank got here tonight.

My 90g tank is going to also be broken down, sold, and consolidated into this tank. Then I'll run it as an SPS/Clam nano.

It turned out absolutely beautiful.

I don't understand TJ you are going to sell your 220gal and your 90? all that hard work and time invested?? i am trying to put a 90 gal together myself taking a while to purchase everything. 2 questions:

where did you get this frag tank built? how much did it cost you?

Where can i buy all the PVC fittings and bulkheads for my tank.. i trying home depot and lowes... they had some CPVC which i wasn't really a fan of.

thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about the unpleasant news. My wife always tells me that things like this happen for a reason. In your case we hope the reason is that your next move is for the better and the advancement of your career. Our thoughts are with you.

Yeah it's not fun breaking everything down and putting price tags on it all. Especially when I think about all the time it took getting it to where it is today, but I don't see myself staying in Ohio, and moving the tanks multiple times is not something I want to undertake.

A local guy built the frag tank for me.

I picked up the bulkheads from www.glass-holes.com

http://www.savko.com/ also sells fittings

I picked up the loc-line from http://www.modularhose.com/
