TT Trouble! Can I cut it?

:( So two nights ago my TT fell and landed in my GSP. The next afternoon i seen it and pull it off. I didnt notice any real problems. Later i see some brown slime, so i watch it close and it does not seem to spread. The next morning the whole head is covered/gone and the second head has a little on it. I had to go to work, so when i get home i see the second head is almost gone so i take it out, cut off the two heads and do a dip in Seachem coral disinfectant.
So it looked like it was opening fine ast night and now this morning part of the head has it on it...... :hmm3:
The last head is splitting into 3 heads but it is not totally split, can i cut it with my dremmel tool or will that damage the tissue even more? Of just try the dip again and Pray?

So recently on here i was hyping up my TT with all these threads of it lately, got it as 1, it turned to 3 and was about to turn to 8 a year and some change later. Now ill be lucky if i can salvage some and in a month or so hopefully still have 2 heads left :furious: what a bummer :headwally:!!!!

Any input would be helpfull and appreciated!!!! Is it a total gonner?
On a side note not that it matter but my GSP is fine....:headwally:

so i cut it up after i dipped it again.
I cut the infected part off the, soon to be three heads.
Now its soon to be two...i hope.....
The infected part i saved and did an additional FW dip also, just to see...out of hope! Man i hope at least part makes it...
Just when everything is going great...
always something!!! It stinks seeing a multi-hundred dollar coral reduced to maybe nothing.....

The unaffected part, as of being cut, is still looking good. The part i cut off is almost all the way gone. :-( Glad i cut it though! I was not sure what the torch would think about being cut like that but its looking good so far (fingers crossed)

sorry about the miss fortune. cutting through tissue on a head of LPS can be risky, if the mouth is intact hopefully there will be a recovery. My TT was cut through tissue when i got it, though just a touch.

unfortunately I have no advice, but please keep us posted so we can all learn from this.

it does not appear as though it got on the part i saved, thank goodness. I think i got to it in time, with how fast it was spreading i think i would notice it by now! It looks like the cut did not affect it that much because it looks like it normally would this time of day. It was extending last night, not to the fullest but thats a good sign.
Now i hope in a year or so ill be back where it was :-(

I cant believe with how many people have this locally no one has ever had any problems, or mishapps. I hope it stays that way!!!

WOW I could only imagine!!! Your friend had to be devastated!!!
Makes me look at what happened to me and be grateful that's all that happened!!
It is still looking good so in a month or so i hope i have a two head TT....again.... :-)

when i place such a coral i always prepare for the worst and never put the million dollar coral above one that burns like a flaming torch . with a clean up crew in your tank there will always be corals getting knocked over etc. so we must be careful especialy with such a prized torch .

I have my TT colonies structured so they are on a base stalk like a tree formation on the sand so I have minimize the chance of stinking and falling over. I glue / cement a broad base to the skeleton to support the torch and I have had great luck with it, knock on wood.

My experience has been when a head has brown jelly it is a goner and break it off. I have never had any euphyllia heads survive brown jelly once it has started on a head. Break it off from the main colony asap to save the rest of the colony.

I looked close last night and i see a small part with brown jelly on it so i might be back down to one head. Since then it has not spread so im not sure it might from me cutting it but it does not seem to be spreading like it did before. But im watching it reall close. First sign of it spreading im chopping it again.
Man i feel like my child is going threw a sickness....Never knew how much i loved my TT, or tank, till now i guess. More than just corals for sure!!!

Well.........
I look this morning and im not sure what triggered but it came with a vengeance this time! The one small spot that i noticed that was not spreading, so i thought it was from where i cut it, spread and the whole thing is encased in it and i believe it is a goner...totally... Man o man. From my Center showpiece, to nothing in a less than a week.
I guess the .01% is not on my side either.

I guess in the near future i will be back on the market searching for a TT, and maybe in two years it will be back to the size it was.

Now the big question is: How long to wait? Do the remnants of the disease remain in the water? in the rock? in the substrate? on the surfaces of everything the water was in contact with?

Do you have other torches, hammers or froggies that show signs of jelly?

Im not sure if it stays in the tank. I think/hope i took it out with the TT.
Yes i have 2 frogspawns, 1 other torch and a small hammer(ive had all three for a year+ None of them show any signs of it) I dont see it anywhere else (fingers crossed) On monday i did my 25 gallon water change.
I have been laxing on my weekly water change its been more like every other week but im going to make sure i do it this weekend again and try to get back on once a week.
Maybe cut back to 20 gallons a week.
