TTM prophylactically

How many of you do TTM prophylactically even without signs of ich?
Is it worth it to do without signs of ich OR is it unnecessary stress on the fish?
Would love to hear your opinions.

I do TTM on all fish. Ich does not have to be visible to be present. TTM does not need to be stressful.

Every fish goes through TTM and prazi. Stress seems minimal and fish settle back in quickly.

in the process of ttm. fish are not stressed what so ever, its super easy and i will do this to every new fish i acquire showing ich signs or not.

TT on all fish then move to QT for 30 days which includes two-5 day rounds of prazi with a week separating them then off to DT if fish are eating and everything looks good.

I'm gonna tag along on this thread because I am trying TTM for the first time. I just picked up a Foxface yesterday and he was doing great at the store. I put him in the first tank and he seems like he has been stressed to the max..Barely swimming around, not eating and staying in his "camo" state. Water has already been dosed with prime. He's a real PITA to catch, what are some tips to keeping it as low as stress as possible during the TTM?

When doing mine I keep the room somewhat dark, just using the light from a window. I turn the room lights on to observe and do the transfer. It seems to help to me.

**raises hand**, ttm and then qt for 4 weeks of observation.

this is what i use to catch the fish for transfers. it's a "net breeder" found in the freshwater section of my lfs. i put it in the tank and once the fish is cornered, it swims right in. no nets, no handling.

i also use it for an acclimation box when any new fish completes ttm/4 weeks qt and goes into my dt.

I have a foxface for a while and they are really timid. make sure that he has a few hiding spots to feel comfortable. When feeding, give some food and walk away and it will feel more comfortable eating.
I personally wouldn't use anything that has a netting on it to catch a foxface. their spikes tends to get stuck and then a disaster to get him free. get a plastic colander or a specimen container to catch and transfer him. watch out as their spikes are poisonous.

So the consensus is TTM followed by 2 rounds of prazi then observe for 4 weeks?
I just setup 2 15gal tanks and will be restocking on all the wrasses that died from the velvet outbreak. Looking to do it right this time around.

Just curious, does anyone know how long Prime (or equivalent) neutralizes ammonia for?

With TTM one puts prime in on day 2 of each cycle and it lasts as long as needed until the next transfer.
