Tubastrea problem !!

My Tubeastrea spp, (orange ) after 4 years in my reef tank is developing tissue necrosis. Meaning that tissue between polyps is dispppearing and the polyps are getting isolated and then slowly perishing.

Polyps are open all day long and hand fed thrice a week with chopped shrimp or fish. ( teeny bits !)

Any help in saving this coral will be well appreciated.

Sorry for not checking through older threads for this problem. if discussed.

Tank is a 450 liter one ,natural seawater, only live rocks as filters. one actinic 40 watts and white /blue 40 tubelight ( 86 cri). turnover about 4 times an hour No fish. 4-5 assorted anemones as other inhabitants.

Maybe a build up of waste/debris in the space between polyps with increased bacterial growth with that effect on your corals. Is your water flow high enuff to clean out the crevices/spaces between polyps? Just a thought.

Vitamin deficiency? Diet seems very restricted. I feed mine 6 different foods 4 times a week. Mysis, brine, oysterfeast, Cyclopeeze, Zooplex and chopped shrimp/squid/oysters/whatever is available. I usually mix two or more in each feeding and add a few drops of vitamin and amino acid supplement to each.

I too felt it could be dietary deficiency, thanks for the observation.
we do feed mussel and clams, when available. Will try to a vitmin soak with the regular food.

3x a week might not be enough for them. Feed chunk meaty foods. are the nems close to the sun coral? I had a frog spawn dropped on mines for 2 sec and had tissue lost the next day.

It could be the source country of the shrimp. Never feed shrimp from China. Too many antibiotics in them. Thailand shrimp is better I believe. I feed my guys Ocean Perch. They don't do well with a constant shrimp diet.
