Hey i have a 75 reef. Would a tube anemone eat any of my fish /shrimp ??

I also have a 29 with only a lion and some softys in it. would the lion get eaten ?

My tube anemone is only in a 10 gallon, but he hasn't eaten any of my crabs, snails, or the blue chromis that is in there. He's more of a filter feeder. Anything large that gets near him causes him to retract. I feed him mysis, spectrum pellets (small) and cyclopeeze.....keeps him nice and happy and colorful.

Peppermint shrimp will eat small tube worms. I have tube anemones in my reef tank and have had no issues. I also feed mysis, and mine are also very shy if anything gets near them.

This might sound like a dumb question, probably because it is, but will a tube anemone move around like any other nem?

They will only settle down in sand or mud, but when they settle in they will sometimes move around in the sand bed looking for deeper sand or a piece of rock to wedge under.

Mine has maybe moved 1/2 an inch in the sandbed since I first placed it....I dug a hole, and "planted" it like you would a plant outside. My sandbed is probably 4" deep right now where he is, and I can make it deeper is need be. As long as you give him a good sandbed, a place where he gets flow but not too much, and feed him small foods, he should stay put.

Today, my TA killed my sea hare. He was seen in the TA area cleaning the wall and an hour later he was wrapped up in the TA's tenticles.

yeah if anything jumps (or falls) into a tube anemone it's as good as dead. that being said, fish that dart readily when scared are at higher risk for jumping in the TA accidently. most cautious fish will likely just get a taste of the sting of the TA and never go near it again

other than those cautions, having TA in a reef is done by a lot of people

(it's also ideal to have a lot of room for the TA and for fish to swim around it.)
