Tube Worm ID

I could not get a picture of this worm because it is located behind my mushrooms and other rocks.

It has created about a 1 inch calcified tube that comes out of the liverock and is somewhat transparent, I saw the worm retract when I approached it with my hand to move the mushroom. It has a similar mouth to a tube worm, and it seems to be the thing which is expelling a spider-web like thread that gets all caught up in the mushrooms and on the rocks.

Does this sound familiar to anybody?
Is this thing harmful, or will it reproduce and fill my tank with webs?

sounds like Vermetid snails, look like these

Thank You!

This is definately a Vermetid ??Snail??

It sounds like its not harmful, and I used to think that the spider-web was annoying...but now that I know the interesting and unique nature of it I might have more appreciation for it.

Snails that aint....who'da thought?

Some of those webs can irritate corals, I would make sure there's no corals nearby just in case. I have pocillopora where the tissue retreated somewhat because this.

they are good filter feeders, but they can be an eye sore. generally i dont worry about them unless they are bothering a coral.
