Tune Nano Skimmer on 29g?

I hae a 29 gallon (30" wide) aquarium that I would like to put the Tunze Nano Skimmer on. Does the unit sit on the bottom of the tank? Will it have to be supported so that the cup is how far above the water line?

I am asking because I would like to use a glass top but even with the back 2" plastic strip removed, is there enough space to fit the skimmer in there?

So basically I want to sit a light fixture on top of the glass top, remove the back 2" plastic strip from the glass top (so a mech HOB filter can sit back there. Can I position the skimmer so it fits through this ~2" gap?

I see that the skimmer is 13.3" high. Is that including the cup? Around 7" needs to be underwater, so is that 7" includes how far up the black box? Meaning how tall is the black box and where is the water level supposed to be on it? half way up about? 2/3"? all the way underwater so only the cup sticks out?

the tunze website has no photos with it installed in a tank

the skimmer is held on by a magnetic mount, and no, it doesn't sit, it's clamped onto the side of the aquarium. check the size of the skimmer, it might not fit in 2", you might need a tad bit more.

The 9002 on it's own has a clamp, the magnet holder comes with the reefpack 200. It is exactly 2" wide so it is likely not going to fit well in a 2" opening. It is 13.3" high with the cup and ideally a bit more than 7" is submerged.

Thanks but the dimension that I still can't find is the width of the cup as well as how high does the cup stick out from the water? Is any of the black box showing above the water line?

Yes, the top of the black box sits above the water line. In my case it is about an ich of it sticking out of the water if you include the neck that the skimmer cup sits in. If you are going to keep the glass top your probably going to have to go with a HOB skimmer.

Can you go with the glass top hanging off the front of the tank if it's just a temporary tanks setup?
