Tuning a Coralife 65

I got a coralife 65 last week, broke it on over 4 days and got it tuned and running smoothly for the latter part of the week. yesterday i did my water change and fed my tank phyto (shutting the skimmer off for the night) today when i started it back up today and it seems all my settings went wack. its creating tons of micro bubbles and just over flowing the collection cup. any help?

why did you turn your skimmer off at night? NO ONE does that. It needs to be on at all times.

Anyway, what happened was your feeding polluted the water and OVERactivated your skimmer. you need to turn down the settings to skim all that crap out, before you can dial it back to where you had it.

BTW, don't use those plankton products, they are all garbage. They're just gonna pollute your water & give you phosphates and algae blooms.

it was off at night because i got to fed up with it and went to bed. the plankton products are for the see fan that does not seem to come out unless there is some in the water. but thank you for the help with teh skimmer

yes drill a hole and thread a fitting in the collection cup so its like an overflow if it gets to full it runs out this and back into the tank

Is it mounted HOB or in sump?

If HOB, unless you have an ATO, you are screwed with it, no offence but I know the skimmer better than anyone as I mod the crap out of them all the time.

When water level changes even a small amount, it will act goofy.

HOB, they will also go nuts when the polyfill in the bubble box gets clogged even slightly. Have to keep new polyfill in the bubblebox and also clean the foam on a regular basis.

And they go nuts with the air intake and output tube ports get clogged with salt creep. It happens...

Overall HOB setups are the only thing that give this great little budget skimmer a bad name, that and owners that do not maintain it
