Tunze 1073.05 and Apex control?

I want to use the 0-10v input on my 1073.05 retuRN in a similar manner to how you use it on a turbelle to create oscillating flow. I.e. I don't want a simple on vs off status instead of like to be able to have the pump ramp up and down from say 10-90% in a ramping action. I have some suspicions this might shorten the life of the pump but im will to deal with that consequence. And help would be greatly appreciated.
 
It won't harm pump life the main concern would be that as a sump return this would cause water level variations and potential havoc with skimmers and ATO's. The 1073.050 made before mid 2015 that lacks a 7090 controller will work with no mods, the newer ones include a stripped down 7090 that lacks a DIN port and lets you just set one fixed speed, to connect it to an Apex you need to replace the controller with the 7090.500.

I think mine may be the pre-2015. It has the input for the controller and a little red potentiometer knob.

As for water level I'm not worried is an all in one tank so the skimmer chamber is unaffected by surge.

The ATO is a problem when I dial (by hand) the potentiometer up extremely fast the return chamber water level drops dramatically however if I dial it slower the drop is less dramatic and the ato tends to not kick on or for a negligible amount of time.

So I'm wondering more about the programming, I haven't been able to find anyone who's tried to adjust the speed of a 1073 with the Apex on a scheduled manner.
 
My only input would be that it would pulse just like any of the controllable streams, it is pretty uncommon for this pump to be used this way, so that won't likely be something you will find reference to.

Thank you so much for your input so far!! I haven't owned a turbelle for a while but I feel like pulse just means changing from an on and off state at a set interval. (I could definitely be wrong). What I'm looking to do is have the pump ramp up and down ( from e.x. 10%-90%) flow in a smooth sinewave like manner.

Is that a function allowed by the turbelle power heads? If so I could just tell the Apex that it is a turbelle pump.
 
30% will be the minimum speed, while that is possible, our controllers don't have such functionality, I am not sure what Apex would offer. Our reasoning for not offering such a function is the sudden change in speed creates fast and slow pulses which crash into each other spreading the flow and this is the main reason to have such a pulsing, that is largely lost when it is an accelerate/decelerate.
