Are those the BLV bulbs? And do they come in a 250w, or only 150 and 70? Thanks. Just out of sheer curiosity actually.

They are BLV and they come only in 150 and 70w. Giesemann just launched the new 250w Megachrome lamp this week- it is 14K with a CRI of 91 and maintains a normal lamp life with minimal color shifting. This bulb is a proprietary gas/metal formula and so if you are looking for a new bulb this might be something to look at. I will get mine soon and can't wait to try them out.

well, I'm still running my T5 experiment and by the time I get done w/that in a year and a half or so, then we'll probably know something about this Giesemann bulb. So depending on how this T5 thing works out......just curious--I got an office nano going up that might like the 150w BLV....

The same lamp is available in 150w and Sanjay will be testing them. Mr Finken seems quite sure he has designed the best lamp available yet as far as giving a good color, the highest CRI, a long life and minimal color shift and this wasn't a rushed project. I know that this was in the works for at least a couple years. I am awaiting the actual data from Sanjay though myself.

Hmmm, I was tossing and turning between the 'saki "50k" and the BLV and now you throw this screwball.....good thing the office nano is still a concept and not a reality....

Hi rvitko, (hello again ortho-moonpod,)

I'm interested in doing something like this:

But I'd rather use a 20K instead of the Ushio 10K, for a little more blue, since I don't have room to also put in actinics.

Would your 20K 70W MH work in the Hellolights ballast and sockets?

Any suggestions on better ballasts, etc? (I'd rather go electronic, but I can't find anything on-line or in stores, including the Aromat that many people talk about.)

Also, could I order one from you? I'm in Maryland.

Thanks a bunch,

Ed
