The pump keeps pulsing and making loud noises every 20-30 seconds. I read another thread about them timing out, but it's less than 30 seconds of it on to fill to the line. I thought I'd ignore it the first time I heard it but can back an hour later to find it was well above the float switch too. I'm now disconnecting it and reconnecting it just to fill up a couple times a day. This sucks. It's on a 29g biocube. Is there a was to trade up to the one with the laser sensor. I'm not trusting this one and it was very expensive in comparison to other nano ato's.

Have you extended the timing? You will have to extend it on a tank larger than 25 gallons. Please try this as well as adding a shim of 1/8" acrylic or rubber between the outer magnet and the glass. This should solve it. The direction to extend the timer to 3 minutes are on pages 26 and 27.
