Hello I was wondering if the prop on the 6060 was designed to degrade after about a year or 2 of service as I took my pump out iv the tank yesterday for cleaning and the prop practicaly crumbled in my hand

IS THIS NORMAL???????????

I am ordering new a new prop asap but wondering if maby I should order more then one if I need to replace them yearly

The 6060 has not been made in 3 years? The prop will typically last many years unless it sustained an impact, as far as crumbling, it is made of a mix of plastic resin, carbon fiber and glass fiber, the plastic is mostly on the surface and once abraded by sand or any suspended sediment the fibers do tend to come apart and fray. This year we switched to POM plastic for the propeller, it is very flexible and durable and has no fiber content. I think if you order a new 6060.120 the problem will not recur but even for the old one what you describe is very unusual, a strong acid could do this or an abrasive material but I don't know of any other cause.

ok thanx for the info I know the pump is out of warranty hence the reason i already planned on ordering a new prop just seems odd that it is crumbling like that and I want to make sure I have a prop that will last just in case the parts aren't getting made any more

what is left of it almost reminds me of a steel part that is rusted almost to a powder

6065 uses the same prop, for your pump the only thing you can't get anymore is the motor.
