tunze 6060 question

Hey Now,

If possible I would like anywhere from 40x-50x turnover in my 38 gallon (36x12) sps barebottom tank. I want enough flow to suspend the detritus and let my skimmer get it via wet skimming.
In your opinion is a tunze 6060 major overkill in a 36x12 tank? My return is 250gph.

thanks!

take care,
jared

Yes, if you have to try it, use a 6000, at least you can tone it down. I think a 7200/2 at 700 gph is plenty.

The Turbelle Electronic are the same basic platform as the Stream 6000 and 6100, electronic and controllable. The difference is they use a special impeller instead of a prop and have a 1" nozzle so somewhere between the 1/2" of a standard powerhead and the 2" of the Stream. The models are 7200/2 and 7400/2 and the do 692 and 1050 gph respectively. They do cost every bit as much as the Streams because they are essentially the same pump but they are far more suitable for these applications in smaller tanks.

Hey Now,

Thank you!!! Looks like these pumps are a better alternative for my smaller tank. I really appreciate your quick feedback! I am looking forward to purchasing your product.

take care,
Jared
