Dear All,

I am in the plan of changing my old wave maker seio 1000 to a much better one, as I have observed that the circulation in my tank is not sufficient that leading to some dead spot that causing level of nitrate and phosphate unable to reduced.

I have seen some strong coments being discussed in the past concerning the pro and cons between these 2 saud brand. but now, I am specifically listing teh actual series for comparison namely:

TUNZE NANOSTEAM 6095 (NEED TO BUY AS WELL CONTROL PANEL 7095)
VORTECH MP40WES.

I am summarizing some important point that is important for my consideration in choosing my next and hopefully the last one for my whole hobbying period.

1) stability: better quality to last longer
2) performances: various mode or flow pattern including wave, night mode etc.
3) inconnections with above point #2, should I need only 1 pump to perform such effect or need to have at least 2 pumps and above?
4) Maintenance (easy or difficulty for maintainances)
5) electric savings
6) price wise

I hope my dear fellow hobbyist, could provide the best of your comment and suggestions that certainly will be the best ehlp for me to choose my next wave maker.

Thanks to all

A better match flow wise would ve the Tunze 6105, though it is a larger footprint than the 6095. The 6095 has a short wide flow similar to a Vortech, though less GPH.

1-Both are high quality. Tunze 2 year warranty, Vortech 1. I would give the reliability to Tunze just because the nature of the Vortech being magnetically coupled....more parts=more areas for potential problems
2-Vortehc has more random flow options. The Tunze 7096 is the more current and cheaper controlelr, and has some randomness features built in and a good amount of control
4-2 pumps are usually better. You could probably use 2 MP10s or 2 6095s, one could still work but as the tank grows in...
5-Both are very efficient. My 6105s use only 26-28 watts on full blast. I think the 6095 is 21 watts?
6-
6095 + 7096= $45
Mp40wes= $465
-------------
2 6095+7096=$680-5300gph
2 MP10=$570--3200gph
-------------

I personally prefer Tunze, mainly for their complete silence. With teh Vortechs having exposed motors, noise has been an issue for some people. If your tank has alot of background noise like other skimmers, pumps, fans, overflows etc....it won't bug you. If you have a dead silent tank you will hear the Vortechs, subjective if it will bother you or not.
Tunzes....with everything in my tank off( its a silent setup anyways) I cannot hear 2 6105s running at full blast.

Thanks Jum for a very details comparison and assessment.

I heard that Tunze 7096 is much cheaper but have more flows pattern or simulation than the much expensive 7095. can you tell me more about this part?!

due to my budget and size of my Tank (280 liters for display Tank), I amy only buy 1 pump, will tunze single 6095 + 7096 be able to performed as a single MP40WES do?

I also learned that MP 40WES is popular for its undertow. how about Tunze 6095?

Are you going to have SPS, LPS?

the reason why I am selecting these 2 brands is because I am planning in the near future to be able to go SPS.

The 7096 is ery similar to the 7095, it has a few more functions like the random flow. The biggest difference is it uses USB to program it, so you need to temporarily attach it to any PC to initially program or make changes. Teh 7095 is stand alone. Both can be had very cheap if you buy used, I got my most recent 7096 for $120, the other one failed from me dripping saltwater into it.

The MP40 would give you more flow if you wnet one pump, about 1000 gph more. The 6105 may be better, since its flow is more like the mp40. If you you can put up with the increased footprint. Also if you were just to go with one tunze pump, you can buy the 7091 single controller....but I think it is discontinued. You can buy that used for $25-$40 usually. The quality is high, so buying used you would still get a long use out of them.

I have no personal experience with the 6095. I never witnessed any substantial undertow when I tried the Vortechs, nothing more than I see from the Tunze flow. Tunzes have a stronger flow to them, that can be good for pushing the water, more of a con if you are looking for gentlest flow.

I just recently got a Tunze 6105 and I Love it! The swivel system is so much better than something like korailia's or similar power heads so it's much easier to aim. I control it with my Apex so I don't need the Tunze controller. If you already have an Apex you just need to buy a cable to make it work.

So if you hate second guessing yourself wondering if you have your flow aiming in the right direction go with a MP40 since you can't aim them at all ;) I would say they only real reason the Vortech would be nicer is because you can pull the wet side off to clean it without having to fish the wires out from behind your tank.
