Tunze 6100 + Apex

I'm tryinig to setup my Apex to control my 6100 pumps and I'm having a strange problem. I know this is the Tunze forum and not the Neptune Systems forum, but I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on this. I have the 6100's connected to the variable speed ports on the Apex and setup to increase the intensity of the pumps from 30% to 100% back and forth very quickly. With this setting, the Tunze driver starts beeping after a while. When I put the pumps back on the 7095 controller, I have no problems. It appears that the 6100 pumps can't handle the switching back and forth in intensity very quickly. Just wondering if maybe the Tunze pumps require a minimum delay between switching the intensities.

Thanks!

There are a few possibilities, if this is a very old 6100, made before 2006 with the original drive unit with brake shoes, it could be the rapid switching is causing the brakes to engage. It could be also the drive unit is just worn or partially jammed. It may also be that the Apex is set so 30% is actually a bit lower than 30%.

Ok. I will try changing the Apex config to 40% for the low end and increasing the delay between the switching of intensities.

They are the black 6100's not the brown ones. Not sure if that helps you to determine the age of them?

Thanks!

We changed to black in mid 2005, for about 7-8 months they still used the older 6100.600.

No, it just is all one piece, no break shoes and is a bit more durable and less likely to lock up. If you see an improvement in flow it would only be because the old drive unit is worn out.
