Tunze 6100

I baught a new 7092 controller about 1 month ago to control two 6101s. everything was working great until today. I re-possioned the wiring to tidy it up but when I turned the two pumps back on the newer of the two stopped working. It seems like it makes a brief attempt to start but wont. It will not work with my old controller anymore either. After about a minute the LEDs on the 7092 start to flash. Somthing similar happed like this before but when I removed and replaced the 24v jumper it worked again.

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Is one pump doing this or both? Since it won;t work on either controller I suspect the pump is the issue, most likely the cord has a short in it. In the pump cord are 5 fine wires and the symptoms sound as if two have pulled or broken creating a short. The only repair will be replacing the motor.

Hi Roger,

Just one of the pumps has the problem. I turned it on again today and it worked for a few seconds. Every time the controller calls for it to turn on, it twitches back and forth a couple of times as if it wants to start. The propellor moves freely by hand.

I'm confident that I did not put strain on the wires so do you think that there may be moisture in the electronics which is causing it to short?

Thank you for your reply.

p.s. It is a 6101 not a 6100 as in the post heading.

It is possible, if you see any corrosion of the controller socket it could be the cause, or if you think water may have entered the little connector box. This could be repaired by changing this connector. Unfortunately, if it is anything inside the motor and cable no repair is possible as it is all sealed and waterproofed and not accessible.

Yesterday I opened the connector box and lightly brushed the circuit board and connections. I suspect that the connector got wet in the past and may have salt residue. Hay presto it was fixed and ran perfectly for around 24hours. Today I turned it off at the plug switch for 10 minutes and turned it back on. Now it's doing the same thing again.

Any suggestions please ?

When I turn on the power the light from the 24v jumper is bright at first. After a second or two the light weakens.

I just went did the same thing I did yesterday, paying more attention to getting into gaps and small spaces. It is now working again.

I'm thinking leave it alone and worry about it the next time I get a power outage.

What do you think?

We could replace the end connector and this is a modest expense even with return shipping about $37.

You could try blasting it out with denatured alcohol, most electronics stores will sell it in a aerosol can with a straw that will make a strong jet to blast things clean, you can then hit it with canned air and see if that solves it.
