Tunze 9002 in a 29 BioCube

Obviously had to do some cutting to get this to fit, but finally got it installed today. The tank is about 8 months old, and I finally decided to break down and get a skimmer.

Now, I realize that it needs to break in, so I'm trying not to panic. There are bubbles, but they aren't reaching the bottom edge of the cup yet. They're coming up the tube, but haven't come up past/to where the cup is sitting on the unit.

I'm having a problem with the top popping off of the unit. Like the air tube is pushing it up. I don't know if it's how it's in the biocube. Now, I may have to take it all out, pull the tube from the bottom, and try to get it to sit flatter. But to be honest, I"m just not strong enough to handle the magnet on my own to remove the unit, and will have to wait for the husband to get home.

However, when we put it in it was sitting flush. I am worried I may have an issue with that no matter one. Just the tight fit in the biocube, and the location of my tank. It seems like when I go to try to move the cup at all it will pull it a bit.

I'm a newbie, so sorry if this sounds stupid, but would there be anyway to tape it down? I'm not even sure if there is tape that'd work in the tank, let alone reef safe, so...yeah.

Any help is appreciated. We are just now starting to move from having fish/nem to adding coral, and I don't want to screw things up.

Okay, I adjusted the air a little more and finally got the bubbles to go to the bottom of the cup. Hopefully by tomorrow it'll be going up the tube!

I think all you need to do is pull the airline down from the bottom. The cup should remove without pulling up the lid as long as the airline is taught.

May have to do this. Just can't see a way to do it without taking the unit out of the water. And frankly, I don't have the strength at the angle I'm at to get the magnet off. Will have to wait on the husband.

Thanks :)
