Tunze 9002 skimmer?

Is there a "input" and "output" side to the 9002 skimmer? Should it face a certain direction? I know my question doesn't make much sense.

I'll try to give an example. Let's say water flows from left to right in the area where the skimmer is located. If the "input" on the skimmer is on the right, and the "output" is on the left, then the skimmer will suck back in the water that it has already cleaned. But if the "input" is on the left, it will be sucking in dirty water all the time, making it more efficient.

Which side has the "input" and "output" on the 9002 skimmer? Is there one?

No, it removes waste osmotically, the water inside the skimmer is skimmed and by diffusion the wastes outside enter through contact with the internal water column through slots in the back, it does not actively take in water.

Will this skimmer work if the height of the tank is only 10"? Wondering if there was a specific optimal waterline.

There are slots in the back that take in water but it does not actively suck in water.
