tunze 9010 microbubble problem

Hi,
I am getting a lot of microbubbles from my overflow pipe (the one the sponge is on) on my 9010. When these build up my return pump shoots them back into my main tank, is there any way to mitigate that problem?
Thanks

Is the skimmer new? When new this will be more of an issue. You could raise the water level and raise the foam sponge slightly.

The skimmer is new. I have had the sponge raised and lowered and the water at different levels, but it still throws out microbubbles from time to time.

Give it sometime, the pump is a bit strong at first and the plastic is repelling water, this accelerates the flow through and aggrevates the air bubble problem. Most of these bubble problems greatly reduce themselves within 2 weeks.

You can close the venturi screw to get darker skimmate, close it 1/4 turn every day until you get the skimmate quality you want.

i just got a tunze 9010 and it seems to be making a lot of those microbubbles but i have it in the tank rather than in the sump. i do have the sump package though so would it help to use the sump package in the tank? did your micro bubbles stop after 2 weeks?
Thanks

Do not use the sump kit in tank, this will result in more bubbles. Set it up for in tank use and try closing the front shutter , the bubbles will be reduced after a couple weeks. It will help if the skimmer is in a lower flow area and make sure the KH is below 14 and remove any excess algae.
