Tunze 9010 problem! Noise...

Hello, my name is Mattias and I´m from Sweden. I have a new Tunze 9010 installed in my 300 liter tank (75 gallon?)

I have a big problem because the skimmer makes som noises. It is the foam-cup that vibrates alot and makes alot of sound. If I put my hand on the cup the vibrations stops and it is silent. The pump inside the skimmer also sounds but not much... but much more than my Tunze 6100.

Is the skimmer damaged or can someone give me some feedback and tips on how to make it stop vibrate.

Best regards,
Mattias Olsson

I have the same problem also the pump seems to vibrate quite a bit it has been running for at least four weeks i cleaned it
but that did not help

Check the bush bearing, this is a collar piece that goes around the hole that the impeller assembly sits in. Pry it out, turn it 180 and reinsert it, be sure it is pushed in firmly, press the impeller assembly in firmly to be sure everything is seated. When you reinstalll the pump, make sure the venturi nozzle is inserted in the jet pipe, the cord is neatly routed through the hole and if you are setting it up for in sump, the coupler and intake plate are firmly attached.

so I have moved the bush bearing as ju instructed and I found a little hole in the busch bearing... I will start it over again soon to see if it is more silent, otherwise it might be the hole that makes the sound/vibrations!?

it still vibrates AND IT´S DRIVING ME CRAZY... I will give it a week otherwise I turn it back to store where I bought it.

The bush bearing is probably too thin if it has a hole in it. This would make too loose of a fit, and the drive unit will vibrate. I would ask for a new bush bearing, it should solve the problem, besides the drive unit or the way the pump is installed there is no other cause possible.

Roger, i´m also havening promlems with the nocie level, not so much the pumpvibrating but the more airsuction. It´sound like a electric eal, when you put a amplifier to it(hope you have heard one)? Whats the cause of this? Sounds like it would dosen´t suck clean. I have it "in tank".

Best regards Robert

It could be positioned too deep, or it could have an obstruction of the venturi line, you might remove the nipple that goes into the pump nozzle and check if it has any pieces of plastic stuck in it. You might also remove the screw and run a wire or pipe cleaner through the hole. I would try raiing it one tab with the holder brackets. Basically water is getting into the venturi and making a gurgling noise.
