Tunze 9010 skimmer?

Roger or anyone else,

How much noise does the 9010 skimmer make? I'm willin to give this skimmer a shot if the noise level isn't equivalent to a bulldozer or a jet engine.

thanks

It is a good skimmer in terms of performance and quietness. I do have 9010 in my 58 gallon tank with about 15 fish (small ones) and mix of corals.

Hi Roger & COCO,

Actually I opted for 9015 since the 9010 wasn't instock at PA. I will say that I'm amazed at how quiet this skimmer is all I hear is bubbles. No humming noise's from the pump no vibrations.

But I do have a question for Roger. The little blue wavy line under the Tunze name on the skimmer. Is this suppose to be the water level for internal operation or or is just a guide for the maximum level for the unit to be surmerged in general?

Hi Roger,

Ok, hold on a minute so your saying that if I'm using this skimmer inside the tank that my water level needs to correspond with that blue mark?

Yes. For in sump you use the outlet pipe and it can vary, in tank you need to be roughly even with that blue line.

You can deviate from the blue line for your own conditions though. I have the skimmer a quarter or a third of an inch deeper since I am using it to aggressively skim a relatively small tank (30 gal). Going a little deeper (until you flood the air inlet) lets you skim wetter,
Mike

hmm

hmm

mine's working fine and its about 3 inches below that line.

But are you using it in sump with the stand pipe or in tank? In sump with the stand pipe the water level can vary greatly so long as it is between 4 and 11"
