tunze 9010

hi,

ive had my tunze 9010 running in my sump for about 4 weeks now..because there is very little room in this section i have been running the skimmer in "in tank mode " without the additional pipe added..the water level is about 1" below the suggested blue water line..
my tank is 90 gallon running for about 8/9 weeks with 2 clowns and 2 small dwarf angels
just few quick questions :
would i get a better/darker quality of skimate if i use the "in cabinet extension kit .. ?
or putting it another way is the water level being an inch below the blue line affecting performance much ?
does adding a air pump into the ozone connector increase skimmer performance ?

i have just looked at the manual again and i think i have probably had the air regulating screw too far open..
any other hints and tips to improve performance of skimmers ?

thanks
Jon

Usually a lower water line, within reason, results in darker skimming. The cabinet kit does result in a very modest improvement, right now the skimmer takes in 80% new water and recirculates about 20%, with the cabinet extension it is 100% flow through. If the skimmate is too wet, the air screw is the key, close it just a bit. Ozone in very low doses can improve skimming, in stronger doses it will reduce skimming.
