I obtained this skimmer about 3 weeks ago and it has been running great. My question is this: the collection cup fills about 40% with a wet/semi-sludgy skim in one day. I was wondering if there is a way to drain the skimmate in a container from the collection, especially in the event that I am away for a few days from the aquarium. Is there a mod that I can do with the cup or something that I can get to direct the skim to a container?

It would be possible but you would defeat the auto shutoff feature of the cup. As is the skimming stops when the cup is full.

FWIW you could always go with the foam extraction unit (9020.140) That way you wouldn't mess up the cup. Just a thought.
