Tunze 9012.000 Doc Skimmer in Sump

Hi there,
basically I bought tunze 9012 skimmer few months ago. I know that it is a hang on skimmer but can I place it in sump?

Yes, as long as the water level is high enough- 10-11"

I also purchased 9012. Are the "exterior" magnets able to be mounted inside water? Looking at possible placement where the magnets would be placed on one of the baffles, to eliminate any magnets showing on the exterior of the tank.

Yes, both halves are the same part and waterproof.
