tunze and seahorses

I am working on setting up my 65g for seahorses. Can I use a tunze 6101 (left over from my reef tank) for a powerhead (connected to an Apex) or is this powerhead risky with seahorses?

If it doesn't have any guards on the intake/outflow, yes, it's dangerous.

SH can handle flow, but they don't need tons of it. Since you haven't set the tank up yet I'd consider trying to design some flow in without adding a PH (they look ugly anyhow...). CL's are beautiful things.

I plan on CL but like to have extra options/redundancy in case of failures
