tunze ato not working??

Hello!

So I recently bought the nano tunze ato for my 180 gallon dt and 40 gallon sump. the ato is in the return chamber which is very small and only around 7X18X5. at the very most it is only 4 gallons. Well the ato seems to not being able to handle and keep up with the demand. Almost every night I come down to the tank where the return is very much lower then where the ato is suppose to turn on.

So then I unplug the ato and plug it back in, it will run and I will also fill it up completely to above where the ato is suppose to turn on.

Any idea on what I can do or is the only solution most likely that it cant keep up with the tank? I find that very hard to believe though as it is such a small area that is should be able to keep up with the demand.

You need the larger 3155 ATO tunze makes. The fail safe is shutting the ATO off before it can fill to the float line. The nano Tunze ATO is good for up to a 90g tank I believe? I had one on my 125g without issues for a few months though

I figured it would not be an issue though since it is filling up such a small area. I am assuming I am completely wrong though as it seems to not be working properly.

You could test the theory buy taking some water out of the tank and sit and watch the ATO, If the safety kicks on before the compartment is full you need the larger ATO

The Tunze 3152 has a jumper to change the failsafe runtime from 1.8 minutes to 3 minutes. The owners manual has more information on how to change the failsafe.

Could be shutting off automatically as a fail safe but I'm pretty sure it should be beeping loudly if this happened. I don't have the nano I have the standard (not certain of model). Check the manual to see if you can extend the pump run time.

but it doesnt make most sense because the nano will pump around .75 gallons before the fail safe goes on.

the compartment it is in all together at most is only 4 gallons, most likely closer to 3 gallons so it would have to almost go down 1/3 of the volume at once so the pump couldnt keep up. which honestly does not make any sense at all.
