Whats the purpose of the non return valve? i know its a dumb question, but whats the purpose of the metal spring in it..When my ATO turns on you can hear the spring going? Is it j ust to prevent kalk from coming back into the bucket. The non return spring is between the pump and intake into the calcium dispenser. I know its a dumb question but just want to know whats it purpose is

The valve prevents kalkwasser from backing up into the reservoir, that is all.

Hi Roger,

Today i opened the lid on the tunze bucket i purchased and found that the RO water had a particular smell to it. After further inspection, I found white particles floating around in the bucket. My assumption is the non return valve failed. What to try next?

It could be, it could also be bacteria film or bits of plastic if you drilled the bucket for the tubing and wiring. Be sure the check valve is installed above the dispenser with the included cable tie used to loop up the line as shown.
