Tunze Circulation pumps

The Tunze Website says the following:

"Submerged operation is possible for 1073.140 and 1073.160 in freshwater only."

I am looking into the 1073.090 and marinedepot description says something similar about it. Why does it mater if it is submerged in freshwater or saltwater if it is completly watertight and encased in resin.

Because the 1073.14 and 1073.16 operate on higher than mains frequency by using electronics. As a result they need a driver which while encased in resin has an exposed aluminum heat sink. Salt water will react with aluminum and the produced salts are toxic.

It can be submerged, just keep in mind these pumps are quiet for a large pump, but they are not Eheim, Mag Drive- small pump quiet. They are big, they hum a bit and they pump a tremendous volume of water.

A large pump is what I need. I am going to be using it for a return pump on my new 240G tank. Do you have any sugestions to make this pump quieter. I will be submeriging it in a 95G acrylic sump. Is this going to be a problem as far a vibration. The sump will be under the tank cabinet in my living room. If having it external is better I will certanly do that, but it will be in the cabinet. Would you have any sugestions to minimise the noise?
Also I was wondering if you had a date yet for the Master DOC 9420. I have only heard that it will be sometime between September and October. It apeared that the 9440 might already be out. I can wait a few weeks I am just curious.

Most people say it is quieter submerged. The new skimmers are not out yet, probably October for the smaller ones, November for the bigger ones. I will have two at MACNA on display.
