Tunze DOC Skimmer

I am wondering if anyone has experience with a Tunze DOC Skimmer and if they could share thier opinion of the skimmer or mods they have made to it. I am looking into the 9010 as I need an extremely short skimmer for a 60 gallon grow out tank. The tank will be housing SPS primarilly. I have about 20 inches to work with under the stand. Thanks

that skimmer will kick butt in a 60g sps tank, you will not need to modify it at all. you should have just enough room to take the cup off with 20".
it skims wet, and is very productive on a daily basis.:thumbsup:

I dont have direct experience with it but i've heard people rave about them. Ive seen the schematics and its a very nice design and their hydrofoamer is pretty efficient. No mods needed and the only downside i see is the in tank option if you dont have a sump but thats minor for the benefit you get.

I set one up about two weeks ago and it is by far my favorite skimmer I have ever used. I don't think it skims as well or as much as a larger skimmer such as a deltec or a euroreef(what I replaced with the tunze). But it is very easy to use efficient and it is so quiet it can barely be heard at all.

How much water needed in the sump if Used inside the sump?

I have a 20L sump and I will have 5-6 inches of water in there... the website says like 3.9 - 11 inches of water

These skimmers are great. I have the 9010 and I love it. I have no complaints about anything Tunze makes, it's all first class.
