Tunze - False Advertisement?

Rysher,

Seriously. Google before you post.

Advertising is a form of communication used to persuade an audience (viewers, readers or listeners) to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services. Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behavior with respect to a commercial offering, although political and ideological advertising is also common. Advertising messages are usually paid for by sponsors and viewed via various traditional media; including mass media such as newspaper, magazines, television commercial, radio advertisement, outdoor advertising or direct mail; or new media such as websites and text messages

Online advertising is a form of promotion that uses the Internet and World Wide Web to deliver marketing messages to attract customers. Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, Rich Media Ads, Social network advertising, interstitial ads, online classified advertising, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam.

To me information relayed on a mfg's webpage don't fit any of the descriptions listed above from your link. There's a difference between posting information about a product on your page and ad placement on another parties page (which is what an online ad is).

what tunze is doing on their website is providing data, if i were tunze, i dont want people to call me everytime they want to know about something.
i'd rather put it on my site so people wont call me and disturb me from watching the vortech commercial. if you consider it advertising that's your definition not mine, i stick to TV, newspaper and radio.

Never Argue With A Fool – They Will Drag You Down To Their Level, Then Beat You With Experience
stop dragging me down to your level then.
i know you are more experienced than me, look at your join date and mine...

tunze conducted their own tests. you can cry "Fraud" if tunze didnt conduct any test and just guesstimate their numbers.

Have you read ANY part of this thread or what Tunze has released? I mean be honest here because your posts show that you know nothing about what is going on.

Tunze did guesstimate their numbers on the larger pumps. They admitted that, end of story. They used a formula that is flawed. They just assumed the numbers were right without EVER testing them. So by your definition, yes, anyone can cry fraud right now.

Also, your constant 5 word posts look like you are padding your posts at this point. Which makes no sense because you should be able to access the buy/sell/trade forum on here.

Maybe you think more posts = knowledge? At this point you have contributed ZERO to this thread and really are just an irritating splinter. Will you please back up your statements and claims? Is that too much to ask?

So by your definition, I can come here on RC and post all about buying my stuff and it is not advertising? Really?

Why then do the mods get so upset with shilling and people advertising in the wrong places? I mean since we can't "advertise" on the internet (your definition), they shouldn't care about what we do.

Did I miss something? :debi:

guesstimate but they also admitted that they did calculations, so which is it, they never did any calculations or they guesstimate??? because of you guesstimate, you didnt do any calculations at all.
why would i pad my post count?
more post = more knowledge? why would i think that?
this is the only thread that i have a buncha post.

You're posting an AD to sell things. I don't consider informational webpages from the MFG on product to be advertisement. I consider when I go to yahoo.com and it shows me a banner ad or flash ad for some show on CBS an advertisement.

Likewise, if I went to xyzaquatics.com and saw a banner ad for Tunze saying their 6105 has "up to 5 billion GPH".. I'd consider that an ad.

american heritage dictionary said:
1. The act of advertising.
2. A notice, such as a poster or a paid announcement in the print, broadcast, or electronic media, designed to attract public attention or patronage.

Since mfg's webpages aren't paid advertisement/announcement.. I don't think that fits the bill.

A flawed formula is a guesstimate.

You really have never seen a Tunze poster at your LFS or even the Tunze banner on top of web pages?

You think Tunze NEVER advertises anything? I am amazed they are even in business. How did people learn about them if they never advertised anything, anywhere?

I'm sure they do but I can't recall one at my LFS. What you and JG1 are arguing with rysher about is whether or not the MFGs webpage is considered advertisement.

Do they show prices for their stuff?

We can sit and argue this all day long and won't go anywhere. I will mention two other companies that supposedly never advertise, Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch. Never once have I seen a TV ad or heard a radio ad for them. I don't think I have ever seen a billboard either. So somehow they stay in business with never advertising?

Oh wait, every person that walks around in their clothing is advertising for them.

i've seen a banner on a webpage, but it didnt say that 6xxx= xxx gph, it just says tunze and then a picture of their pumps.

How is that NOT advertisement? Do you think they got that banner for free?

That is advertisement at its best.

Yes, that'd be considered word of mouth advertising and it's often argued it's the strongest form of advertising there is. You don't see folks running around with tunze shirts or holding pumps in their hands though. They have pricing on their webpage because they sell direct. It's still.. IMHO not the DEFINITION of advertising.

that's because youa re from utah, there's not much people living there, even jerry sloan and karl malone left...
come here to los angeles, near venice and redondo and you'll see a billboard, and i also see them on tv, but perhaps it was only local commercial.

How is that NOT advertisement? Do you think they got that banner for free?

That is advertisement at its best.
so is their website an advertisement or an informative site that provides data? that is the question.
