Tunze Help - ATO 5017

My Tunze ATO has an issue.

Normally when it powers up it runs the pump for 5-10 seconds, now when you power it up it doesn't run the pump for the 5-10 seconds but the green light comes on (water at correct level).... seemed weird. So, I tested it. I drained out water from the tank and the yellow light should come on and with it the pump too. Instead the yellow light is very dim with a flicker (almost not existent) and the pump doesn't come on.

Is it toast? is it fixable? Can I fix it ?

Try disconnecting the pump, if the display light then indicate normal operation, the cause is just a dead pump, if it does not, the cause could be a burned transistor or PTC. How old is it?

With no pump attached it does the same thing. The yellow light dims and flickers and the pump doesn't work...

I have no idea how old it is. I have a few of these things on a few tanks and cant remember which is which....

Is it fixable ? If I send it in ?

It is most likely a pre 2008 model and the PTC or transistor is damaged, is it black on the front with blue text or blue with white text?

It would be from prior to 2010, since it does the same thing with no pump attached, I suspect the transistor is damaged and if so, it cannot be repaired. I would be happy to take a look at it, if I cannot fix it, I would discount a replacement.

Hey I am curious if my ato isn't fixable, what would the discount rate be for a replacement ?

I'm in Canada and shipping it to you, paying the exchange and then shipping again might not make sense.

I can find used replacements here for 150 CAD......

From what you describe it is not likely fixable. I would agree it is not worth sending in. I don't export, my best suggestion would be to contact Phil at Xenia or wait for a black friday sale. I would be cautious about a used purchase unless you are sure of age and it is a newer unit.
