Tunze hydrofoamer Q

I'm planing out a DIY skimmer and was wondering if the hydrofoamers are capable of being plumbed externally in a recirc capacity? I've been really impressed with the hydrofoamers and would like to use one but if not I'll probly end up using a eheim or similar.

Thanks
Jess

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but in the larger DOC skimmers the pump is running outside the skimmer chamber, so I don't see a problem.

What I want to do is plumb the pump with its intake back into the skimmer and then feed water into the skimmer from a seperate pump. do the hydrofoamer would be recirculating the water that gets pumped in from the feed pump. That way I could run the skimmer externally.

This is how I would mount it

Vs.

This method where the pump feeds and powers the skimmer

with the second link you can only run that skimmer in a sump where as if the pump is recirced it makes it easier to run it externally.

Basically I just want to know if the hydrofoamers can be externally plumbed

Thank you..

Hydrofoamers are not designed to be plumbed externally and so we don't recommend them for use on recirculating skimmers. Hope that helps...
