Tunze kit question

Which tunze kit would you get for a 180g reef. Its gonna have mostly lps and a few softies. Here are my options

1)1 tunze 6100 with 7091 single controller
2)2 tunze 6000 with 7095 multicontroller
3)2 tunze 6100 with 7095 multicontroller

I'd rather save $500 and go with option #1 but i really like option #4. Is it worth the extra money? Also, would that be too much for just lps? would option #2 be better on a 180g than option #3?

Please help, i'm really confused!

Either would work really. If you got the 6000s and want more flow in the future than you can just upgrade the transformer. Another desiding factor would be if you are going to have sand or going BB?

Thanks for the response!

I'm definitely going to have sand. With that in mind, you would recommend the 6000's? Would you say the 1 6100 with the 7091 controller is the worst option? I'd like to save the money if i can but i feel weird just having 1 powerhead in a tank that size.

The problem that I see would be alot of dead spots since the flow can't be targeted to both end of the tank with just stream. Have you thought about getting a pair of the nano streams? Two 6055s would work as well. The 6055 model can also be used on a controller.

I didnt know about the 6055's! Are they available now?

I have a really dumb question for you. The 6000;s have 1850gph correct? Whatever i look at for the 2 6000's with the multicontroller says an output of 1850? Isnt the output with 2 6000's around 3700gph or am i missing something?

The 6055 nano streams will be available by the end of January. The flow rate for the 6000s is (660 to 1,849 US gal./h) That the output of one of the streams.

I'm a little worried that 2 6100's might be a little too much flow.

Is it better to run the tunze's at full strength or is it better to run them below full power? Or does it not matter at all?

Also, would you recommend getting the magnets or is the bracket that comes with the 600's fine to use?

You can pulse the pumps for a wave effect. I would get the megnets since the brackets that come with the streams aren't too durable.

I would get option 2, the brackets are plenty durable just they can be hard to put together.

I'd go with the 6000's and a 7095. If you want more flow, you can purchase the 6100 transformer. The $$'s for a 6000 and then the transformer = the same as a 6100.

Deco rocks hide the streams really well.

Thank you guys VERY much!!!

I think i've decided and will bite the bullet and get the 2 6000's with a 7095. I guess i'll try the brackets first and if they dont work out get the magnets later.

Is it better to run them at full strength or does it not matter?

I'll just have to tell the wifey they were $250 not $780! :D
It's not like she doesn't do the same with her Gap card and Am Ex card, lol.

one last question: does it matter what strength the pumps are run at? Is it better to run them full strength or does it not matter one way or the other?

Just placed my order for 2 6000's and the 7095 controller.

Of course, the place with free shipping was back ordered so i had to order from another and pay $11 shipping but I WANT THEM NOW!!! lol

Cant wait to get them in the tank and setup and finally see the legend in action.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I just got my 2 6000's and the 7095 today and am VERY happy!

After ordering them, i kept reading threads with people saying they were huge and big as a basketball! I actually started having some buyers remorse and wondered if i made a mistake. Now that I have them, i can definitely say that those people are 100% wrong. I dont know what the heck those people have in their tanks but these 6000's are anything but big. Barely bigger than a mj1200 and certainly no bigger than a mjmod! Not to mention 1,000,000% better looking!

Cant wait to get my 180 filled next week and have them start pumping. I'm so excited, i wanna get in the bathtub and hook em up and see if they can stimulate any coral growth on me!:D

Thanks for the help Roger and everyone else.

They only hog up a lot of room if you have a small tank. On the larger tanks, they are barely noticeable.
