Tunze LED's ?

They are submersible, while you lose the "shimmer effect" and also have to clean algae off the light, you gain a higher efficiency for two reasons, the water cools the LED's keeping that at optimum temps and you don't have the loss of light reflecting off the surface.

Yes, they are built to be submersible, they are a plastic construction and everything is potted in resin.

I'm intrigued just how much more PAR you get from a submerged light. The algae cleaning sounds like a pain though. I do vinegar dosing and just get slime everywhere.

I think the algae issue is largely a half dozen of one vs six of the other, over the tank you clean salt creep, in the tank you clean algae. The algae does easily wipe off if you just do it weekly so it can't get more established.

Hey flypenfly can I ask you what lighting fixtures you have and how much they cost and where you got them from. Your lighting in your tank is amazing.

We don't have one, it is something we may do in the future, we have had some designs, but this is a very competitive market and one that changes very fast, so for now, we are perfecting our designs and knowledge with lights for nanos before moving into bigger units.
