Tunze Magnet holders submersible?

I got my Nano Reefpack today, and I have a false wall on my tank. I also have two compartments in the back (32g m-tank). I cut the magnet holder in half in order to fit it in (the compartment is 4" wide, just a tad too small to hold the whole pack together), and I will be running the cleaner and skimmer separately.

The skimmer has one magnet out of the water, and one in. The cleaner will be mounted with both magnets submerged.

Is it safe to submerge the magnets?

Is the magnets exposed to saltwater where you cut them?

If you cut the center bracket it should be fine but if you cut into the ends where the magnets are it would be a bad idea.
