I got the 1073.09 a day ago. Ever since I installed it the noise is driving me nuts. It's currently connected to silicone hosing. It sounds like a compressor. A loud humming. The ceramics are fine. How silent is it supposed to be? What can I do about this?

I would suggest emailing info@tunze.com. This pump should be quieter than most large pumps but it is still not very quiet. The best if you need a very quiet installation is multiple small pumps like 1073.040 but they cannot pump very high.
