Tunze metering pump?

Has anybody used one of these pumps on their auto top off not using the "Osmolator"?

Im thinking of putting this pump in my kalkwasser container and let it do the topping off for my tank. Is that a bad idea?

Surely in the long run I might be better off having this pump in RODI water, feeding a kalkwasser reactor type of deal right?

Just wondering what the word is on this pump and how people are using it. Thanks.

The pump won't last long in kalkwasser. Maybe 2-3 months. That stuff is hard on them. You'd be better off running a kalk reactor like you suggest.

You realize that the Tunze metering pump doesn't come with a standard electrical cord, correct? It's designed to mate with the Osmolator so you would need to DIY an electrical adapter for it ... and I agree that it wouldn't last long directly in kalk.

A $10 Aqualifter makes a great topoff pump. Kalk doesn't seem to hurt them either.
