Tunze mod to have wider flow

I have read (can't find the thread now) that there is a simple mod to make Tunze have wider flow. Something along the line of replacing the propeller and / or the face cover?

Any thoughts on this?

Just cut the face cover .

hmmm... I thought there is a mod that doesn't involve cutting anything (because that would destroy the resell value). Just replacing certain part of the pump. Maybe I am just dreaming.

The cover can be replaced on the full sized streams for wider flow. The only option with the Nanos is to modify the cover. The covers are not expensive if you wanted to restore it to its original condition.

Can the 6105's cover be replaced to have wider flow? If so, which one should I replace it with? Thx!

Yes it can be ordered from any Tunze dealer(if they dont stock it they can get it) or right from Tunze.com

Thx.

So simply take out the original housing and replace it with 6205.130? Are there any other mods that need to be done? Is the 6205.130 housing simply wider? How much wider flow can this get? 10%, 20% or ... ?

No other mods.....I believe it would widen the flow from 24 to 36" or something to that respect. Keep in mind it will alos shorten the flows distance it will travel

Any chance of knowing what the VorTech's range of wide flow? Close to 36"? :)

(I know this is a Tunze forum but really want to get a sense for comparison.)

Yes, just the outlet is wider. No other mods. It is comparale to the Vortech- very wide and gentle. With the stock housing, the sand in my front covers blows around. With the wider housings, it does not move almost at all.

It is pretty comparable to the Vortech width and gentleness. I ran the 6105 and MP40w side by each, and went with the Tunzes.

i just checked out the tunze site for the 6205 housing and didn't see anything with the part number that was posted ????????? Has anyone found it? I probably am just looking in the wrong spot. Thanks

just ignore my last post......................I found it. Got to love the search on the tunze site....DUH

I would use part 6205.130

Can a 6205's face be replaced with say, 6305?

Reason asking: I am interested in getting a 6205 but wants to know if I can mod it to use the 6305's cover to have a wider flow.

The flow would be no wider. The intake of 6305 grill has wider openings between slats to enable the higher water flow of the 6305.
