Tunze Nano DOC Skimmer 9002 Question

Just how much clearance does the Tunze Nano DOC Protein Skimmer 9002 need to operate? I'm looking for a skimmer that would fit in the rear chambers of a 24 gallon aquapod that will have the hood on it. I'm only going to have about 2.5 to 3" of clearance above the water line and between the hood, do you think this skimmer is an option?

You would need about 5" minimum from the water to the ceiling of the canopy for it to work and the canopy would have to come off to service the skimmer.
