Tunze Nano DOC Skimmer 9002

HI, I have the 9002 installed in rear compartment of my RSM 32g. I received it 2 days ago and have a couple of things I need some help with.

- Is there a reason why the air hose is so long that it makes keeping the skimmer box lid tightly in place all but impossible? I have shortened the tube, pulling the tube tight from the bottom ... and this does help, however ... it makes it very difficult to attach the hose to the lid. BUT, it does allow the top lid to close securely. Any other ideas on how to keep the lid closed are greatly appreciated. ...

- In the manual it states page 15 "Due to the skimmer cup, an opening in the lid is required when the unit is covered" ... is this solely for easy access to the cup?

The hose is left long so that it is easier to remove the pump and connect and disconnect the pump. The key is to pull the hose through into the lower portion. I would connect it the the nipple on the lid and gently pull it through so you don't disconnect it.

The reason for the opening is solely to make it easy to clean the cup.

Thanks ... that makes sense!! I did try to pull the excess length from the bottom B]before[/B] I attached it to the nipple on the lid ... which gave me the same result because as soon as I tried to attach it to the lid, it just pulled the excess back up from the bottom!! It looks like I will be buying an extra length of hose in the near future.
