we bought the first or second batch of the tunze nano. yesterday i noticed the pump stop working,so i took it apart, there is it,a metal shaft and it start rusting that cause the pump stop working.
any of you have the same problem? is tunze going to change the design? maybe switch to ceramic shaft or something that will not rust?
thanks

The shafts up until recently were made in China and had problems with a heavier oxidation than we would like, they are stainless steel but there seemed to be some that were not as good as others, most worked as they should but some pitted and corroded. We switched to stainless steel shafts made in Germany. Stainless steel does get a surface film of oxidation you can see this on stainless steel appliances and utensils- especially when they are just removed from the dishwasher, even the German made ones will do this. I suspect that likely the cause of your problems isn't the oxidation as much as the shaft coming out, it should be fixed in the pump. We have not found any other material that is suitable, ceramic is too brittle and has it's own headaches and titanium is also quite brittle and likely to snap when pressed into the socket in installation.
