Anyone have a nanostream? Where do you get them? I want one because it is controllable with my 7095 multicontroller, it is small and best yet the energy consumption that it uses. The pump could then be the only pump plugged into my battery backup. At 8 watts I can get away with several hours of flow within the tank if and when the electricity goes out. I have thought about a maxijet mod but I didn't like the idea of it not being controllable. Not to mention the magnet option for the nanostream.
 
It seems to be a little on the high side as far as cost, however you get what you pay for. I would never bad mouth a Tunze product. As a matter of fact I just had a 6200 sent out for repair to Roger and he replaced the whole motor for free because it was under warrenty. I don't even have paperwork for the stream nor do I know how long the warrenty is. Great service with no questions asked!
 
You'll wanna go with the 6055 if you want to control them. I've got two 6025's and they freakin' rock! You're gonna love the nano streams. BTW: I don't think that the controllable nano streams will be out until the new year. Everywhere I looked showed a waiting list and stated that they'll be available in Jan. 2007
 
Well I like the idea of controlling stream as I have been with my 6100's, however the 6045 may be up my alley due to price. It's not like I need too much additional flow. I just need to plug in a powerhead with low wattage into my battery backup for peace of mind. My two streams are in the back corners pointed at the center of my tank. If I have the 6045 on the upper middle back wall pointed at the center of the font glass that would break up the flow from the 6100's even more. Thoughts?
I wonder when the 6055 is routed into the 6095 multicontroller but plugged into a batery back up would it operate at 100% while the 6100's would be turned off. Also, would the 6095 consume power as well since it is connected to the 6055? That would defeat the purpose of saving energy if the battery back up is running.
 
Roger says this about the 6055 running longer during a blackout. Therefore it may be worth it to me to hold out for the 6055.

The 6055 is like your 6100, it is a low voltage pump, the 6045 is a straight 115V pump like a maxijet. A low voltage DC pump creates its own frequency and tolerates irregularities better. The 6045 will need a perfect 60Hz to run reliably for extended periods of time, most Back up systems don't do that, it is a pseudo 60Hz power supply, good enough for most things but not motors and Hz dependent items like timers. In time the motor loses sync with the irregular Hz and sputters or stalls.

just got an IM from tunze and you can use the 6025 on a wavemaker or timer as long as it is 15 min or so on/off.

cool i can have mine on my wavemaker. i have 3 now. one is from a friend who decides not to use it.
