Tunze Osmolator Help

I recently bought the Tunze osmolator and like it so far. I have it mounted with the supplied rails... but it keeps sliding off the rails since nothing is holding it. How do I keep it from sliding off??

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Can you explain the prob a little further. What do you have mounted on the rails that is sliding off.... the sensors?

Yes, I have rails according to the instructions in the manual, two rails side by side. The two sensors are positioned on the two rails. They will barely hold if I wrap the cord around the top. The sensors have been knocked off the rails quite easily in the week or so that I have on. I have not been able tot figure out how the sensors attach to the rails.

I would prefer to use the rail method of installation versus gluing the sensors to the aquarium wall as some people have done.

Thanks for your quick response.

Do you have the sliders on the correct side of the rail? they should lock firmly in place if so and only move up and down when you press the round tab on the back side in "unlocking" it from position on the rail allowing it to slide up or down to the next click

Yes!!! I did have it on the other side. Flipping it around makes it a tight fit. Thanks so much!

I do have another problem.... Sometimes the pump does not pump any water. My tank is approximately 3 1/2 feet above the pump, however, I have moved the hose right next to the pump and it still see it not pumping anything. I can hear the pump running, just no water coming through. I have figured a way around it... it is to remove the hose from the pump and let the pump run until I see water coming out of the outlet and then plug the hose in while the pump is still under water. I am having to do this everytime I remove the pump out of water. Do I have a weak or bad pump?

Other than that, the level control seems to work beautifully.

When the pump runs dry it will not prime usually. Try to keep at leat a little water in the resevior. If it is full and the pump is spinning with no water being pumped turn the pump upside down submerged and let the air bubbles out and it will start most likley

I have never let the pump run dry. During water change, I turned off the osmolator, switched it to a new reservoir to get the salt water upto the right level. Then switched it back to the top-off reservoir.

If the pump is out of the water for a while (with the osmlator off) and then put back in water, does it run dry?

Yes if you take it out the water will escape out the bottom of the pump thus dry and air in the pump. so when you switch reserviors just turn it upside down in the water for a few seconds

I have had two of these units and they are GREAT. The rails however are not so great. Silicone them to the sump and it will always work perfect. I did not fidel with the little pcs this time, I just siliconed them and the system is awesome.

I siliconed the rails to the sump...If you silicone the sliders than you can not adjust the height with in the sump for the water level.

So that would be bad.

Did I misunderstand animans question?? maybe I did.

Any way when the rails are siliconed, they will not move. On my last unit they moved side to side and did not attach tightly thats why i did it.

The instructions say you can do it that way.

No prob, yeah he was having trouble with the sliders and I though maybe you had had the same issue was all. I agree silconing the rails to the sumps works best and how I did mine as well
