Tunze osmolator issues

Hello, my osmolator pump is extremely loud. I bought this new about two years ago. I read a post here that it's probably going bad, is this true?

Also the unit appears to have a short and occasionally not fill when it should. If I wiggle the cord to the controller it turns on, then works normal again.

I'm going to be going out of town for an extended period of time and am worried about both these issues. Any advise appreciated.

It is possible, generally the pumps last 2-3 years, they are readily available and about $24 to replace, part 5000.020 and just about every major dealer stocks them.

Regarding the "short" most likely the power connection has some water damage, it should be bright and shiny nickel plate inside and out on the tip that plugs into the controller. Often what I see is people unplug this tip and it falls into a puddle or sump and almost instantly the inner + tip is corroded badly as the combination of saltwater and DC current reverses the plating process. You could try cleaning it, but the power supply is also available, part 5012.010 and is about $20.
