Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155 sensor missing lower water levels..

I've been noticing a few times the last few weeks that the optical sensor on my Osmolator somehow has missed that the water level has gotten low and just seemed to forget to add more water. I came back from from being out of town for 2 days on Friday to find that my sump was nearly dry and my return pump was sucking alot of air into the the display with some water.. fortunately I caught it before it burned up the return pump. Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm dosing kalk/2 part so, there might be some buildup on the sensor. Would it be ok to let it soak in vinegar for a few hours, or would that damage it? What should I do to make sure I don't have to worry about it when I go out of town for say a week or two??

Thanks,
Paul

Likely the optic sensor has a haze of minerals and just needs a vinegar soak for a couple hours as you mentioned.
