I am looking to purchase this unit for my display tank however I do not have a sump.

There are a couple of questions for the folks here.

How much room do the sensors take up? What are theie dimentions?

As the tank is a converted freshwater DAS tank there is what looks like an overflow in one corner that measured about 4.5 x4 that I can place the sensors in, however I alsohave to make sure they clear the 2" pipe used for the closed loop.

The other question is how far above the water line does the "eye" have to be to work correctly?

Their are two sensors, with hardware they are about 1" wide each. The sendor stops the water flow when the water touches it.

I guess I should have been more clear. I only have about 2.5 " of tank available above the water line. I am just trying to see if I will be able to use the mounting that it comes with or if I will have to rig something on my own.

I guess in the end I will just have to buy it and see what modifications I will need to make to get it installed and working corectly.

With 2.5" you should be just fine.
