Anyone have any experience installing a Tunze Osmolator auto top off? I will be tackling this tomorrow and already know it is going to kick my butt. (Yes there is an instruction manual - but it may as well be in german)

good luck! i am looking to get one too, did you buy yours brandnew or used?

Brand new. I took everything out and looked at it and put it back in the box. Forget that thing. I need to find someone with experience hooking it up. There's no way I'm figuring it out with all of those parts. I bought mine in 07 and never used it...and it doesnt have magnets in the box. Just the old rails Tunze used. So I'm wondering if the magnets (much easier) only come with newly manufactured units??

Wish I had one. Right now Im using a free perastalic pump runnung 15 min twice a day.The tunze is a better choice.

Don't be scared all your life. It's so easy I even figured it out. LOL

i have the magnet style. i used one magnet to hold the float switch and level control in my sump and i used the other one to hold the pump upright in the 5 gallon bucket.

Are the magnets only on the 'new ones'? Are they a buyable option? I can't imagine using these stupid rails...

Did you get it installed? Very nice top off. I've had mine for years and never have had an issue.
The kalk dispenser is a nice addition, also.

Your's came with instructions??? I just used a couple of zip ties, a hammer, and a screw gun. If you need some help let me know. :D

i believe they are new, but they have been out for a while. i got mine at faois. i believe you can buy the magnets

No I did not get it installed. Anyone care to venture on over? ;) P.S. The kalk reactor is brand new too...about 3 years old and never used. lol

Let me know if you don't have it up and working by Saturday...I can't make it to Tampa until then, but I've hooked up a few of them (I've owned three).

I don't exactly live IN Tampa - I'm in Port Richey. And I'll keep you posted. lol But don't be on me getting it done. I spoke with Roger from Tunze and the magnets didn't come out until October. That's why I don't have them. He said Aquacave carries them...I checked their site and they are $35 plus shipping. I might as well use the rails since I have them already. :D

Oh and Wardworld, not to get off topic, but how did you change the description under your screen name where it usually says REGISTERED MEMBER? (yours says 'gonna need a bigger tank')

There are a lot of "extra" parts in case you need them. For my Solana, I have the top off rail going down the return pump chamber where the bottom sensor is about 2" below the overflow sensor on the same rail. I just used some of the smaller rails as a clamp on the top rim of the tank. I used to work for a German company and they tended to over engineer things. Not always a bad thing, but this top off could be much simpler (but then I guess it would be more limited in application). It works great once you get it going. You can't be a Tunze.
